The Tools Didn't Fit Me So I Built My Own

I wanted one place where I could plan my week, stay focused, track my progress, and reflect without jumping between five different apps.

So I built FocusFlow—a simple, intentional system that supports my real life and habits.

The Problems I Faced

I used to jump between different apps just to get through a single day—one for planning, one for focus sessions, another for reflection or journaling. Nothing felt connected, and everything felt noisy.

Planning Everywhere

My weekly goals, daily tasks, and intentions were scattered across different tools. I never had one clear picture of what truly mattered.

Disconnected Flow

My plans, focus sessions, and reflections lived in separate silos. There was no sense of continuity between what I intended and how I actually worked.

No Room to Slow Down

Most productivity tools push you forward without giving space to pause or reflect. I wanted something that supported awareness, not just output.

The Features I Use Every Day

Crafting My Own Way: To Work, Think, and Reflect

There was a point where I found myself using five different apps just to get through a single day — one for planning, another for tasks, another for Pomodoro, another for journaling, and another for reflection.

Each tool was good at one thing, but none of them worked together.

Instead of clarity, I felt more scattered.

The moment I realized I needed my own system was when I opened my phone and saw five different apps reminding me of five different 'priorities.' None of them reflected what actually mattered to me. I wanted clarity, not more notifications.

As someone who values intention, structure, and personal growth, I realized I needed something that wasn't out there — something calm, unified, and designed around how I actually work, not how productivity apps think I should.

So I decided to build it myself.

I treated this not just as a coding project, but as a craft: designing an experience where planning, focus, and reflection could live in one peaceful space. A tool that supported my wellbeing, not my stress levels. A system that brought meaning back into my day.

Creating FocusFlow reminded me why I love building things: turning friction into clarity, ideas into experiences, and personal needs into thoughtful solutions.

This isn't a product I built "for the market."

It's something I built for myself — and I'm sharing it openly because good tools, even simple ones, might help someone else too.

"

FocusFlow began as a simple experiment — just me trying to create something that supported my own habits. Along the way, I learned how much intention and thoughtful design can shape our daily lives.

Frequently Asked Questions

No. FocusFlow is a personal project I built for myself. I'm sharing it openly in case the ideas or workflow resonate with others.

I found myself jumping between multiple tools for planning, focusing, tracking progress, and reflecting. Nothing felt cohesive or calming — so I created something that matched my real habits.

It prioritizes clarity and well-being over pure efficiency. No dopamine-drip notifications, no guilt-driven metrics, no hustle-culture tone. Just intentional, mindful productivity - at least for me.

Yes, of course. It's a personal project, but if the structure or ideas help you, feel free to explore, adapt, or learn from the approach.

Certainly! Just login using your Google account and you're good to go. Nothing is gated.

Maybe — the goal wasn't to launch something, but to solve my own problem. If enough people find it meaningful, I might consider evolving it further.

It's built with tools I enjoy experimenting with — typically Next.js, React, Tailwind, Supabase, and AI integrations. The project is as much about learning as it is about productivity.

Not at all. It's simply the workflow that works best for me. If it inspires you to rethink your own system, that's already a win.

Absolutely. Feel free to take inspiration from the structure, the flow, or the philosophy behind it. That's part of why I'm sharing it. If you need help on how to vibe code your own app, happy to share my workflows and the custom GPTs I created to help create the scaffolding for your desired app.

Yes, gently. AI is used for the Ikigai & affirmations suggestions, provide a summary of the daily, weekly & monthly tasks & reflections — not to overwhelm, but to enhance self-awareness and help me stay grounded.
